There is a way to add the BES mail icon to the device but it has to be done on the BES itself, not the device. Most don't use it. There used to be a 3rd party app that would give a BES mail icon but it didn't work that well. The "Messages" icon is where your BES mail goes.

If the System Admin allows POP3 to run on the server then yes it is a POP3 account. And you can NOT change the email icon the messages are delivered to.
