Another Question, I have a T Mobile Blackberry Pearl 8100 with a 4.2.0.64 OS but I am using it in Venezuela in a GSM carrier and it works perfectly fine.. I use Blackberry messenger a lot, but the voice note option is not available on my phone, or it is but only for MMS, If i upgrade the software will I have it??

Also when I pluggled my BB to the desktop manager and try to find for updates for the software it says that I have the latest software.. Does that mean I cant Upgrade my phone with any other software? Thanks a lot for your responses

So - the first post says to make sure I have 4.2 SP2 of the Desktop Manager.

I have 4.2.1.8 of DM. Will the upgrade work or no? My work is blocking the DL for manager, but I was able to download the phone software just fine.

Thanks in advance,
lfc.

No, it actually says this:
Quote:
Make sure you have Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 or higher installed.
Can you download version 4.6?

You may encounter errors with DM v 4.2.1.8, try it and see... but you might want to wait.

No - my work's webwasher bullhonkey won't allow me to DL any of the manager software from the site, but it passed the phone load package just fine. So lame.

My berry is currently in a VERY sad state and I just wanted to try and update the load because my phone is still at 4.2.0.64. Figured it's already messed up, might as well upgrade it and see if that helps at all...

I guess I'll just have to wait until I get home tonight..

Yep, do that. You'll be fine.

Good luck.

No, you don't have to remove a SIM or Media Card to do the upgrade.

Afterwards, if you experience any issues, such as constant rebooting, etc., then read this about the Media Card.
http://www.blackberryforums.com/medi...t-reboots.html

Good luck, and welcome to the BBforums.

No real need to update Desktop Manager. But I think 4.5 is worth the trouble.

Default Thank YOu

TYVM. The instructions were so good it was impossible to screw up. I finally am enjoying music in STEREO on my bluetooth Motorola S9.

Now I only wish that I could hear my movies through the S9. Can't even get mono. I was getting mono via S9 using the latest "supported US T-Mobile" rom with MediaPlay by Dollars5.

Now can't get any sound from the videos through the S9, but having my music in stereo makes it all worth while. As instructions mentioned... took a long time... at least an hour.

My phone was really slow for the following hour or two, I've got a 4 gig micro HDSD. The 8100 has no problems with the High Density cards.

scmobileman's Desktop won't prompt him to upgrade after installing the update.

check your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader and make sure the files are dated 4/25/2008

I experienced the same issues, my files were from a previous load on a different phone. I renamed the Apploader directory, reinstalled the update, deleted the vendor.xml file, and was then presented with the option to upgrade.

My Desktop version is 4.7.

If anyone has a better way to track multiple versions, I'm all for it (I have an 8700c, 8800, and two 8100s to manage).

TIA

Yes you can load this on any 8100 and it will work fine with your provider. Just follow the instructions above.

Hi I tried to Install the new OS but when I install OS installer and then delete the vendor.xml file then start the Desktop Manager, it didn't prompt me the updation of OS. What I can do? When I see the version of my mobile it says 4.2.0.51

Try using the loader in the same folder that the vendor.xml file you deleted is in. Just double click.
