Hi,
I just got the 8900 not even a month ago, and I'm already frustrated.. I was in the middle of using the data plan yesterday, and out of nowhere i just got the message "phone not allowed MM6", and I could only make emergency calls. I already checked to make sure that the phone is unlocked. I'm with Fido and called them, but since it's not a Fido phone, they weren't able to help me. I called the Research in Motion, but they're closed until Monday. I don't know what else to try.
Any help would be more than greatly appreciated!

Sounds like the phone has been barred from Fido's network. Not much you can do if they won't help you.

You didn't happen to recently unlock the phone using some third party software, did you?

omg noo, don't tell me that..! well, when i bought the phone 3 weeks ago, i got it unlocked. but i did check the settings and it says "disabled" for SIM, which means it is unlocked, right? i just saw another forum, and i think you're right, i think it's barred. what do i do now?

From what I know, once a phone is barred, you can't use it.

the phone was probably reported stolen. the IMEI has been barred.

in most cases...its banned on almost all GSM networks in the world.


if this is the case...your only option to save the phone is to do an IMEI change which is apparently highly illegal
