memory question
Please Login to Remove!
I'm running os 167 I believe and after I do a quickpull my app memory will be around 25mb it seems go down pretty quick.
I don't really have that many apps. I have to do a quickpull pull atleast twice a day(one at 4am then I manually do one later in the day
Is this normal or is it an os problem

There have been many posts on this topic. Follow NJ's advice. Also, try upgrading to .282. I have a significant memory boost upon completion of the upgrade.

I agree, you should upgrade to .282, really helps with memory management.

Just upgraded to 282 and after 3 and a half hours its at 24.6 is that good or not

Thats solid. Depends on how many apps you have. I got 18 and I range from 22-25 on a good day.

I went through the optimization thread a while back and used some of the suggestions.
I don't remember if my suggestion is covered, so I apologize if I'm re-hashing.
I have found, if I enabled the memory cleaning feature to clean when holstered, I can go for days (probably weeks) without a quick-pull
It's under Security Options in the Options icon.

282 does kill your battery in some cases. But yes the bold doesn't have a lot of memory (especially if you have a significant amount of apps installed). Later os versions are generally more battery efficient. I have to pull battery at least 4-5 times per day...I boot w/ about 19 and it drops to 9-6 several hours later.
Memory cleansing helps *some.* Deleting the browser cache helps more (if you surf a decent amount) hint -> press "S"/4 to go to the caches relatively easy.

- +1 On memory cleaning
- Delete any apps you dont use
- Clear the browser cache
- If you havent done a battery pull after the upgrade, do one
- Close any unused apps currently running
As far as the battery goes, you can always turn on 2G only with .282 to help get maximum battery life.

I have cleaned out all of the unused apps/crap and start with about 43 MB memory after batttery pull on .282. And my battery lasts me all day plus... about the same, maybe longer than .266. Memory and battery usage are totally subjective, and absolutely dependent on the user and how s/he chooses to mix apps and usage.

Agreed with above.
I have 58MB after battery pull.
Ive cleared out everything I don't use from the OS.
BBM, help, memopad, languages etc etc.
I still have VAD and all pics that are undeletable.
And have 5 other apps installed.
Its the first place to try and clear memory. Removes programs from the OS.

I just deleated some apps and I had 50 after reboot. How do you turn 2g on.there is no 3g what so ever in my area
Also how do you deleate the browser cache. I tryed what's below but nothing happened

you need to be running OS .282 to get the 2G/3G swap option
(att lock this down on all other OS's)
open browser
menu - options - browser cache
scroll down each one, clicking on clear.

Did you miss my post?
2G/3G switch is ONLY present in OS .282
To delete browser cache
Open browser.
press menu button - options - cache operations
then click the highlight clear buttons on all options.
