Hmmm, Interesting. I thought you got $100.00 off for renewing. I know we did when we bought the tour, then take off the $70.00. Maybe different areas run it different. I don't see houw Best Buy is stealing anything from the carriers tho, they are authorized VZW dealers, just like the stand alone stores. They sign you up for your new contract and activate your phone. VZW gets the cntract, which is all they want anyway. If you look at the full retail price of $599.00, then 169.00, or 199.00, heck 269.00 is taking a beating on the price of the phone, but VZW just wants the 2yr contract, not the phone. Unlike ATT, I mean how many $99.00 Iphones were out there?

Yeah sorry that is what I meant. Best buy wants to take the phone sales away from Verizon cause best buy does not care about the contracts but Verizon does. And Verizon does not care about phone sales, its kind of a win win.

The 70 rebate is over as far as I know. The rebate ended several days ago. My guess is that you had a salesperson that didn't care and just dropped the price. Probably more of the exception than the norm.

Ahhhh ok that makes a difference. Going to VZW and Best Buy online, it looks they have changed the initial selling price as well. I bought my GF the Tour almost three weeks ago. A that time it was listed as $269.00 then the $100.00 off for renewal and 70.00 for the rebate making it 99.00. Best Buy did not take any discount until they called a VZW store to verify the price.

I did a contract renewal in the store. The phone was $299.99 and I got an instant $50 discount for being a VIP customer bringing the cost down to $249.99. Then there's a $100 mail in rebate dropping the total cost to $149.99.

Can you post a link to the rebate? I can't locate any current rebate on this device.

What did you pay? Did you just do a 1 year renewal? I HATE 2 year contracts, but the device price is what would drive that decision. If I can save 200 bucks, I will save money on a pro-rated contract cancellation. Verizon is still the best provider out there.

Not necessarily. I was just about 14 months into my 2 year contract with the 8330 and I got the $149 after rebate upgrade price on the Tour. I've found vzw will sometimes allow early upgrades when a new device is released. When I got the 8330, I'd only had my 8703e for about 14 months also. I've been with vzw for over 10 years so maybe that has something to do with it.

I was also told by vzw on a family plan you can upgrade every 12 months.

I got the same kind of deal on my Curve. I had purchased a Voyager only about three months before the Curve came out. I recieved a flyer in the mail for the curve for something like 79.99.I decided to go check it out, ended up getting that phone on a great deal with a new 2 yr contract, even tho I was no where near a renewal.
