Did you restore your backup? If so, try wiping again and just load the OS. Do not restore your backup or load 3rd party apps. See if it freezes then.

I think I found out the issue. First, it wouldn't actually freeze. I let it sit there "frozen" one time and it actually came back from that lagged state. Every so often it would just freeze for a minute and come back to normal. I went to look at my available memory and it said the internal memory and external memory were both unreadable. I took out the 2GB memory card and reset the phone. When I did that, it was back to normal. I think the memory card was causing it to do some sort of search or glitch. I'll save all my stuff from my memory card and format it. that should do it.
Thank you everyone for your help!!!!!

On a separate note, does anyone else find it annoying that with the new OS update the menu button will select whatever is highlighted? Before, only the enter button or pressing on the trackwheel would select the highlighted item. I accidentally hit menu twice more often than I thought and it selects the first item.
is it possible to disable this? I doubt it, but I thought I'd ask.

so would you say that re formatting the sd card and then re transfering the data back would do the trick for the lockups?

I haven't tried yet, but I think so in my case. If someone else is having the same issue, take out the SD card, if it fixes it, then that's your problem.

Guess I'll have to download vis DM. Wireless Upgrade Option>No Upgrades Available. Wonder if it's because we are alledgedly being upgraded to 3G here? Data and Voice has been degraded about a month.

What OS version is currently on your device? It should say at the top of the Wireless Update screen.

Upgrade done two days ago and there seems to be no issues so far. Seems the memory holds up in high 30's low 40's all the time.
It took just 32 minutes to install and complete restore from backup. I was connected via USB using DM5.
Battery life with jivetalk, wifi and bluetooth on has been close to two days.
Need to get VVM enabled from my organization as I'm on BES with company plan.
Overall a solid build, awaiting version 5.x for tabbed browsing.

Mine doesn't. When I press the menu button, it opens the menu, not the icon I have highlighted.

It looks like this OS is setup to fall back into 2G mode too easily, before when I was using .282 my BOLD almost never went into EDGE mode now since .297 it falls into EDGE all the time, its only when I lock the device in 3G mode that is stays there and of course I don't have any problems when it in 3G mode.
I suspect AT&T changed how the device operates in 3G & 2G mode because of the lack of infrustructure they have to support all their 3G devices.

This is the only instance I've heard of this. Mine stays in 3G with 4-5 bars almost all day. Are you sure it's not an issue in your area right now?

I would recommend:
1. Do a complete back up of your device in Desktop Manager.
2. Follow the instructions doing the manual download and install with loader.exe
If you want to delete stuff like Voice Activated Dialing, extraneous themes, etc., that is where the removal of certain cod files in the Java folder comes into play. If you don't, don't worry about it.

I would like to get rid of some of the pictures and ringtones from my Bold. Are there instructions on how to do this with the upgrade? Also, am I able to delete some of the weblinks that came pre-installed on my device (i.e Yellowpages.com)?
Thanks

Those are not pre-installed. Those are pushed out by AT&T. The only way to get rid of them is to hide them.

Technically that's not the only way to get rid of them. You could delete the service books. However, they will be pushed to your device again. So your best bet is to hide them. Out of sight, out of mind.

I know, but if you tell someone that, then they are going to right back here asking why the icons have returned...
