My scroll ball would only move sideways or downward.
It wouldn't scroll upward well maybe a notch or two for a second when I kept trying to force it.
I also noticed upward and downward arrow icons on the right hand side of the screen.
I rebooted twice to no avail.
The ball just came back on it's own.
Has this ever happened before to anyone?

Dust or dirt under the trackball has been known to cause those problems...

Rebooting doesn't help as it is a physical issue.

Yeah well I did have a 3-day weekend where I virtually ignored it.

Remove the battery (or power the device off / put it in sleep mode), then press on the trackball and scroll up. Do this for a minute or two. This should dislodge whatever debris is under the trackball.

If you're carrying the BB in your pocket, make sure it's in a case. The trackball has quite an appetite for pocket lint/dust.

Yeah I think it got hungry while sitting in my bedroom on the charger all weekend.
Housekeeper must have done a good job at dusting
