There should still be a way to transfer contact information from phone to phone (even non-PDA phones that can't use outlook or w/e) even if it does not use sim cards.

Really. Opinion or based on any facts (besides that CDMA carriers have never used them).
Merely opinion.
Yes they are needed in GSM phones, and as I said, I doubt that will ever change.
But in terms of needing to store things on them (phone numbers, text messages) they don't need to be able to do that anymore.

I just cant see anyone wanting to develop a SIM card that can hold information in any other way than it does now.
It does store numbers, yes one per contact, and yes the BB cannot copy a whole address book to SIM. But other phones can.
