The bad thing about this update, it's probably going to cost me more money! I got so tired of the phone issue, I had really cut back on listening to audible books. But now? If it works as it should, this could be dangerous! LOL

Well, this version is certainly better. I installed it last week and have not had any troubles with that old problem of the player starting after a phone call. Now if they could only make the fonts larger so that I can see where I am in the book...

Looks like there are some possible issues with how it chooses which data path (WiFi, BES, BIS) to use. Your issue with fonts probably won't be addressed until they decide to start using the RIM API structure more. It appears they are still building most of it like it is a generic j2me app. Only invoking RIM specific APIs when they have to. I obviously have no real proof of that, but it appears that way.

Have really enjoyed latest update and listened to 3 books this month. Still room for improvement but good enough since only have to keep up with 1 device.

Have opportunity to upgrade next month from 8330 to 9630 Tour and Audible suggest trying to run the 9000 Bold software on the Tour 9630 at present. Has anyone actually done this and if so what has been your results?

I downloaded the version for the Bold and it appears to be working fine.

When I opened the Audible player to listen on my drive home, I was forced to upgrade to version 1.4.3. I didn't see any difference from 1.4.2. Does anyone know what has changed? The player still stops at odd moments until I push the center button. It still has the minuscule fonts.

That is the only fix that I am aware of as well. I have been running it for a few days now with no noticeable differences other than it better recognizing my BES vs BIS transports.

Do you think that 1.4.3 the end of the upgrades?

We had a bit of excitement as Audible churned out a few upgrades one after the other, but it seems to have stopped. Is this the end for now? I sure would love to have readable numbers for the timer on the book and I would love to be able to see where I am in the whole book rather than just in the current section.

No. It is my understanding that the development is ongoing. However, the last new code I saw was dated Aug26, so one would think we are due for an update soon.

Thanks. By the way, have you tried this with the beta versions of the new Blackberry OS (version 5)? I've been thinking of trying it out, but figure it will just make the Audible player worse.

I have been experiencing some problems with listening to my books, since I upgraded to the 5.0 OS yesterday. I tried pulling the battery, to no avail. Essentially, the book(s) start playing, but only go for 5-10 seconds, and then the sound cuts out. Any ideas?

Audible is currently working on a new featureset for 5.0. From what I have been told, that is the reason for the current dry spell. I think we are going to find that a bunch of third-party apps have problems with 5.0. It is a big upgrade.

Finally got my tour and loving it. Thought I might have to pull the Ipod back out but I downloaded the Audible for the 9000 and slipped my card out of the 8330 and into the 9630 and other than losing my place in current book, everything has worked very well. Everything seems to move and respond much quicker. Only thing I can complain about is the small print which I can live with. Am on 4.7, not going to try 5.0 until confirmation that it is working with Audible.

v1.4.4 will add 5.0 support along with support for the 8520. ...unless something changes between now and release...

Maybe never(1.4.4 is old news now) ... the versioning and features are subject to change before actual release. Let me say it differently. Audible is actively working on support for OS 5.0 in the next software release which should be available soon. I have no date. However, one can make assumptions based on past releases.

P.S. Just because I feel like I should mention it every now and again: I have no affiliation with audible.

I have downloaded the software and I can not seem to get it to pull up the files from my SD card into the player after I put them on the phone using the Audible download manager on my computer.

When I pull up the files on the SD card they look to be in the right place.

EDIT: I was able to resolve the issue by reinstalling the software.
