Storn2 9550 Battery life.
Please Login to Remove!
How has everyone's battery life been with the Storm 2??
I went to a Halloween party last night at 6 p.m. and my battery was completely dead by 8 a.m. the next the unit shut it self down..
Keep in I logged Off social scope so I have a minimal amount of running applications and even disabled the Wifi..
First time I took my Storm2 out for a real stress test and it failed with a dead unit I could make calls, send messages, or use the GPS to get home the next day..

"a few threads up" appears to have changed. I don't see a thread with an answer to fixing Storm2 battery life. Can you please post a link to the thread you're talking about?

Turn off WiFi, to help, mine seems Ok, coming from a Curve that could last 2-3 days with normal use, and after 2 years with the same battery it was good for me. Not having a Storm 1, I cant compare, I would normally recharge over night with all my phones.

This is a very active forum, "a few threads up" can change in barely an hour a link would be a bit more helpful.

Only reason I got the S2 was for the wifi
I uninstalled all the crap VZ has running in there and I have been shutting off and turning on connections but I still have a low battery by dinner time.
Still trying to work with this.

I turned off WiFi, but my battery still seems to drain pretty fast...but right now I am using it a lot - adding contacts, setting up BBM contacts, adding songs, pictures, etc. from my old phone and computer. I had a 8130 Pearl before and it ALWAYS needed charged by the end of the night. I was told it's a good practice to recharge overnight, so I do...mostly because it's convenient. I think now that I am not "playing" with it as much it the battery life will improve...I hope! I always had an extended battery on my Moto Razr, but the extended battery for the Storm makes it look like it has a "growth" out the back...so I hope I can get a full day from my Storm2!

Standby time on the battery is pretty good, considering it's a touchscreen, but even when I'm doing some trivial stuff here and there the battery seems to drain pretty quick. I was using the camera to snap a few fall pics and that ate up the battery pretty quick.
Also, is anyone having issues with the speakerphone? The bottom one on mine works, but the top ones aren't. I know that makes mine defective, just wondering if anyone else was having that problem.
I love the phone though, especially OS 5.0

Make sure you uninstall those 3rd party that are always running that VZW puts on.

Yeah, I got rid of those the first day. City ID trial version.....what a waste of memory. They should've included a version of Quickpull lite that worked on 5.0 instead.

Hi Steve,
My battery life is still pretty average. I am charging it everynight, but I do listen to a bit of music for about an hour in the mornings at work, and play on the internet etc quite alot in the evenings..... so I would say its normal really. But be careful, dont know if you know this, but when it gets to low battery, it doesnt allow you to call out or receive any calls etc. Not enough battery for "Radio".... just a pre warner incase your low and need to contact people!! I may buy an incar charger to keep me topped up when Im travelling long journeys! =o)

Yep I think when the Battery hits 0% it disables the radio, then shortly after it will turn it self off completely.

Hey Strawberry7 (Great name btw), have you looked at buying a spare charger anyway if you listen to music at work? They're pretty cheap and you could get one from eBay for example?? Just an idea!

My first day I started playing with it at 7:00 am. I was sending instant messages, checking email and doing some web browsing. I think I made a call or two. By 10:30 I was down to 30% battery life. So far, not so good. I could do the same with my curve and not have to charge at least until the end of the day

Yes Wifi off helps a lot.. but what made a HUGE improvment was turning off the GPS to 911 only. I went from losing 3 bars in the day to just 1. I just turn it back on when I want to use google maps. It would be nice to have an App that just turns this setting on and off with a click of a button instead of having to go into the options.. but the battery lilfe it saves me is worth the hassle.
For the people that mentioned quickpull Lite.. No need. From the App store you can DL ResetMe for free and it works just fine.

I've actually been managing my Connections moving to either wifi or mobile network, when I move out of Cell coverage I run off wifi but when I can I turn my Wireless network back on and my wireless off.. So far I've left the GPS on but I can turn and I'll post back.
By about 7 p.m. I get the low battery signal but by that time I running both wifi and 3G since I'm at home.
My battery life is better then my Curve but that's at the cost of turning off my 3g connection, if I turned off my Curves 3G connection I'd probably never have a battery issue with it.
