Curve Speaker Issue

Hi everyone,
I have an original BlackBerry Curve and the speaker appears to be broken all of the sudden. I haven't dropped it or exposed it to heat/water. Any suggestions?
I cannot have it replaced since the warranty has been voided due to changing the housing (this was done a long time ago before this speaker issue).
