I dont understand why verizon phones get unlocked, they do not use a sim card, so how you suppose to operate t with another carrier?

some of the new verizon phones are hybrid wich means they are cmda and gsm so they can be used with a sim card

These hybrid phones are called "world phones". CDMA is mostly a North American technology while the rest of the world generally uses GSM. The GSM portion of most world phones is locked from the factory. The CDMA portion is not locked, but the carriers patently refuse to active another carrier's device on their network. No need to lock it if you just refuse to activate it.
