Default Windows 7 64 bit. Blackberry desktop will not install

Please Login to Remove!

I just tried to install my Blackberry desktop software on my new computer with Windows 7 64 bit without any success.

It opens the software, unzips the software and then when it begins to install. However, only 2 bars go across on the installation manager and then nothing.

The installation manager disappears and no activity at all. I check in the Windows task manager and there is nothing running.

This is true of the the latest version from the blackberry website (5.01) and from the included disk.

I tried XP compatibility mode with the same results.

Any guesses?

Default Some progress

I suspected there may be a problem with the Windows unzip and exe set up. So, I downloaded the program on my XP machine and unzipped it manually. Then I transferred the unzipped folder to my Windows 7 machine.

Clicking on the "Blackberry Desktop Software" windows installer in the unzipped file worked.

However, there were a few error messages during installation such as:
Error 1904
c:\programfiles(x86) Research In Motion]-\Blackberry\IS71connectors\ISgroupwise6.5x1gw.dll
HRResults-214 failed to register7220473

But, it installed. We shall see what kind of errors I encounter.

Default A different problem.

I have had no problem installing the program. But I can't get it to talk to the BlackBerry. I connect it. The PC beeps as usual, bu the Manager does not respond to the phone.
I can get it to do Bluetooth, but it only does contacts.
I have tried compatibility mode, which solved the a USB connection problem for a different program (ColorMunki), but it doesn't help. I've turned off the Firewall and that didn't help either. Any ideas would be welcome.
Thanks

I had this problem too...[Win7 evaluation 64-bit]. I removed all the BB programs, downloaded the latest Desktop+Media manager from the RIM site and installed it again. This time, it worked fine. Possibly you aren't using the latest download?

I has this problem as well until I set the phone (under options ---> Memory) to "Yes" in the enable mass storage field. Once I did this the desktop manager program found the phone every time.

Working fine on Win7 x64 here. I don't recall doing anything special to get it to work, and my mass storage setting isn't set to 'yes'.

are you installing from the CD that came with your phone?
If so uninstall it and download the latest version directly from Blackberry website...
Make sure you select version for your phone. I used support link from my cell providers webpage to link to latest version of DM manager and it installed/runs fine.
