ok, thanks. We all do that (react then read).

So, at the end of the Sticky post, you are also resending your service books from Rogers to complete the entire process?

Yes resent the service books via BIS, did a battery pull and resent again for good measure.

For troubleshooting, drop by a Rogers store and get a SIM swap on your SIM.

I've seen old SIMs not work right.. fine for voice, etc., but I am sorta baffled at this. Maybe someone else reading this can chime in also.

Here is more to baffle you. I went to the Rogers store across the street at lunch and the girl there took the SIM out of her 8900 and gave it to me. I asked what data plan she had and she had the same as me. I verified that the only browser available was the "Get New Games" and "Internet Browser". On another note the SIM I have works fine in my T-Mobile 8320.

Tried something this morning. With the SIM card in I went to Manage Connections and turned off the Mobile Network. So now I am only on WiFi. Made sure I was connected to the WiFi router and then went to the browser. Surfed a few random pages and then went to the Browser Options/General Properties. Under Default Browser the only options available were Internet Browser and Get New Games. So am I crazy? I am attached to a hotspot but using the Internet Browser not the Hotspot Browser.

If you select "internet browser" and if there is wifi coverage, you are connected to wifi and BIS account works through wifi. This is how it works. You don't need hotspot browser.

If you are connected to wifi, you use data from wifi. It doesn't matter if you are connected to mobile network.

Wirelessly posted

I had the exact same issue with my Verizon 9550 on Rogers. I could only get the hotspot browser with my sim card out. When I called rogers they told me it was due to my plan. Last night I installed 5.0.0.428. And it seems the problem was solved. Before, as soon as my phone connected to edge The browser would disappear. Now it remains there and under my browser options I can set the browser default to hotspot as well. Hope this helps.

I'm still doubtful about upgrading...people are reporting problems...are these issues fixed or is it better to go ahead and do it?

I also use T-Mobile and was having WiFi issues. No hotspot browser only internet browser and WiFi did not work. What I did was search around and tried a few things. This is what worked for me. I can now use my WiFi and it doesn't need to be set on hotspot browser. I get WiFi on my internet browser. My router was set to WEP. I went into the router settings and changed the security to WPA2-PSK [AES]. I unplugged modem and router waited about 30 seconds and plugged in modem. I waited for modem to boot all the way then plugged in the router. While the router was booting I deleted my WiFi profile from my 9550. After everything was rebooted I scanned for my network selected it typed the password connected and saved it. Now my WiFi works perfectly and it's blazing fast with no need to switch to hotspot browser which is impossible anyway cause it's not even a choice I have. If I take the sim out maybe it will give me that option but not going to try and fix something that isn't broken anymore. Hope that helps.
