It didn't work still, I can do everything but make the phone calls. If that doesn't work I'm just out of luck?

Hi - so after the upgrade, did you have to do an enterprise activation again with the BES server - or does it restore BES connectivity automatically during the upgrade?

Thanks

You would need to enterprise activate the device again. One thing I noticed was that I cannot dial numbers on the phone anymore. I press one of the numbers, and get asked if I want to assign a speed dial to that key. Any ideas?

What's your key rate set to? It sounds like the phone is seeing you press and hold the number instead of a quick click.

Actually I just enterprise activated it again and the problem went away. Weird, but the new OS is definately WAY better than the old!

Is there a way to get around this? Anyone have any ideas?

*EDIT* Figured it out. NM!
That's exactly the problem I have as well; I'm using a 9550 as my main BB, and the 9530 as a spare.
How did you get around the "active subscribers" issue?
I'm not in a VZW coverage area right now, so I can't activate the 9530 on my VZW line at this moment.

I just tried loading this OS on my unlocked Telus device and it didn't work for me. I was only able to load version 4.7 even after deleting the vendor file.

Can anyone suggest something? I saw that someone did a previous post but I could not find any real instructions on it.

Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

Default Internet Browser: HELP!!!

I loved this new version, a lot of new features. The problem I'm having is regarding Internet Browser. Whenever I want to open a page it loads but it always stays blank. I've tried every possible browser configuration and nothing.

Does anyone know a solution for this?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

I believe the 9550 hasn't had any 5.0 updates, just the one it shipped with, an earlier version than that of the 9530, in fact.

That's a leaked OS; six of twelve or half a dozen, take your pick.
As far as carrier released OS's go - the 9530 ain't no worse off than any other.

Default Cannot dial from email messages

It seems like after the 5.0 upgrade I cannot dial a number directly from an email message. Previously it would underline the phone number and I could click on it and it would dial.

It seems like it works if the number is in the subject, but not in the body of the message.

Has anybody else seen this issue?

Let me start by saying that I'm on an unlocked (originally Verizon) Storm in Central America. I've followed all of the instructions; and have downloaded the latest DM, as well as the individual files. I've tried updating through BlackBerry's automatic update through their site, as well as through the AppLoader, as well as DM (Desktop Manager).

The problem with AppLoader is that it doesn't recognize the 5.0 OS, even though I can view the files fine in C:\\ProgramFiles\Common Files\Research In Motion\Shared\Loader Files\9530AMEA_v5.0.0.328_P4.2.0.128. I get the same error with DM. And finally, when I go through BlackBerry.com, it stalls in the middle and says that I need an active BlackBerry subscription.

Does anyone know how to bypass this so that I can get 5.0 installed on my phone?

Your help is much appreciated!

Unhappy I bricked my Storm with these instructions

Guys, this is not good. I just BRICKED my device using this method. So I'm back here to seek some help.

Thats what I did.

1. I downloaded the OS and tried to install and this installation failed to install on my Vista 64
2. I could conveniently guess that its cs of my Vista 64
3. I grabbed a fresh Windows XP installed machine.
4. Installed the OS installation and it installed successfully.
5. I connected the device to PC
6. Ran app loader and when initially the wizard installed, it showed me a few apps like BB Messenger and Facebook that i could install or uninstall. I left the options unchanged and it did not do anything. :(
7. Then I ran the Apploader wizard again and this time I unchecked all software in the list that included Facebook, Gtalk, Blackberry Messenger and Flickr i guess.
8. The wizard ran further and this time it appeared as if it is doing the trick.
9. I left it there and the way mentioned in the instructions, it was left with a white screen and an error saying "Reload Error 507" in the center of the screen.
10. Well, the software on PC gave error and exited.
11. I started the software again, but by that time the phone had restarted.

Not what happens is, whenever I boot my phone, it shows Black background splash screen with BlackBerry logo in white on it. Loads and gets stuck on the same white screen with "Reload Software 507" on the screen.

I connected the phone again using USB and as soon as windows detected the device, Storm showed a screen with something about the processor being ARM3 and some more specs. This screen appeared for just one second and phone restarted automatically.

In short, as soon as I try to connect my device to PC to run the app loader again, the phone restarts, so there's no chance I can update the software.

Can somebody help me here? Its actually freakin me out.
