I don't know why I haven't noticed this before, because it was really annoying at times with my 8700c, but my Bold 9700 doesn't create the (for lack of a better word) feedback static noise on my desk phone.

Does anyone know why? I remember reading in these forums that the interference was just one of those things that BB users had to put up with. Am I incredibly lucky, or more likely, has RIM figured out a way around this issue?

It's because the 9700 is on 3G. The EDGE/GPRS band is what causes that feedback. If you were to manually change the 9700 to 2G, you would hear the feedback again.

Ironically, I was 'on edge' with AT&T tech support yesterday regarding a SIM card issue, and the feedback was so loud I had to leave the 9700 on the other side of the room and keep walking over to it when they told me to press something! Wish I had 3G locally.....
