i like the look of the threaded sms's however, i can't figure out how to put the names in the threads. I did it on BBM but not in SMS. Is this possible?

From the SMS screen --> Options --> General Options --> Display Name --> "YES"

i'm set to yes and it still doesn't show in each thread. Dunno....Any other thoughts?

It's a known issue on the 9700. If YOU start the SMS thread, it will display the name, but if the other person starts it, you only see the number, no matter what.

The workaround is to remove the "-" and any brackets "()" around the number so it looks like this +1XXXXXXXXXX

This issue is fixed in beta releases .415 and later, but not in the latest official release of .405

thanks. The name shows at the top of each thread but since it now groups all messeges together in one thread like bbm, i mean a name on top of each text...mine and thiers....instead of the check mark next to the ones i sent and triangle next to the ones the other person sends.

in BBM, there an option to check that says "display names in chats" and that does it there.

Sorry to thread hijack ~ it seems its already been answered though ~ is there a way to turn off Threaded SMS? I cannot stand Threaded SMS.

SMS won't do that - only BBM will.

It was fixed with .405. All subsequent releases (.415 and .421) are unreleased, but solid. I've been running .415 for a few weeks, looking to install .421 soon.
