Default Quick Question - Company Phone

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys,
My blackberry is coming in the mail in a few days or so. I am on a company line with Verizon right now, to my understanding our company has blackberry accounts too. (Some of the employees in the office have purchased there own blackberries and threw there dinky company issued phone in the desk drawer to collect dust) I have the enterprise key password... Does anyone know the easiest way to move my number over to the blackberry? Is there any chance the 9630 wont be on the approved phone list? Sorry for the stupid questions, thanks for bearing with me.

I am missing something. Are you trying to place enterprise password on your personal blackberry? Will you be using BIS or BES?

I havent received the phone yet, but I know the enterprise password already. I guess my main question is getting the new blackberry in replacement of my current company phone. (activation steps) It is going to be a BES.

AFAIK, the BES Admin has to add you. Knowing the password doesn't really help. You need to ask the BES Admin the questions you are askinghere. tehre is no way that we'd know what devices are approved or not. What is the company policy concerning using your own devices?

I never recommend putting a personal device on a company BES. the IT Policy can lock it down if they so desire.

Ditto. Research this. Check the depth before diving in head first. You may regret it.

Thanks for the info guys. I wonder how the guys at the office are using the blackberry if I KNOW for a fact they havent contacted the IT department to obtain a password. But yet they are getting work email... Maybe the are using a BIS and just adding the OWA?

Could be. Make sure the company will allow that type of access. Security is a big issue and some companies use any breach as a reason to end the employment of the individual.

FWIW, you can't 'know' the enterprise activation password unless a BES Admin (or a Helpdesk person with access to the BES) has added your account to the BES and given you the password. If you are planning to get added to the BES, you should read this first:

What does BES see; what can be tracked/logged? - Port3101.org : Your BES Connection

Otherwise, as long as your company allows it, you can set up the OWA account via the BIS account.
