The problem is getting to the /shared/loaderfiles part. This is my option c:\program files\common files\research in motion\ (then the following)
AppLoader
BBBI Drivers
BBWebSLLauncher
Modem Drivers
RIMDeviceManager
USB Drivers

Can't find that "shared" file to delete the specific cod file. I don't think it's OE but maybe it is, and I'm not doing something right. I've installed the most up to date software for my phone but I can't get the same file options that everyone is talking about.

Then you have not installed your device OS to the PC.

Download the OS, it will be a something.exe file. Double-click on that exe file to install it to your PC.

I don't know the OS on your device, look at options > about , third line down beginning with 4.5.xxx

Then you can download that file from your carrier.

I followed all of the instructions to remove the browser and it worked. However, now when my emails download to the BB, I cannot open them for viewing... Can anyone help!?

Please give more details of what happens. Do you get an error message? Have you tried a battery pull?

I dont get an error message. I roll the cursor over the new message and highlight it, then when I select the message to open it nothing happens. The strangest thing is that the only emails that I am able to open are the ones from this website.

All that I have done to the device is to remove the browser_daemon.cod file as suggested ealier in this thread.

Having the same problem. I had to remove the browser_daemon .cod file with CrackUtil - trying to remove other browser-related files nearly bricked my phone. A good workaround would be awesome. I tried to upload a fake _daemon file but it didnt recognize it.

In addition to being unable to open emails, i cannot look at pictures. I know that there is a pretty quick and easy option if you are working on a BES - does anyone know how to emulate that?

Solution:

1. Set up a Google Mail account, and have all your emails forwarded there. If you're not already using Gmail, you should be anyways. It's fantastic.

2. Download the Gmail application to your Blackberry (it comes with the Google application). Make sure that you have the Gmail shortcut available on your phone.

3. Follow the instructions listed elsewhere on this board for disabling your browser.

4. You will find that, as noted by others, your regular mailbox no longer works properly. However, your Gmail should still be working just fine.

Browser disabled. Emails still functioning. Problem solved.

p.s. All you dudes on here crackin jokes about my man K.W. are probably addicted to porn and you don't even know it.

God is good.

Default Proxy

It can be done using a proxy server. We're nearing completion on an app that would allow you to set your proxy. Drop me a pm if you're interested.

First off thank you for your help.

I followed your instructions on deleting the browser on my blackberry curve 8330.

Now I can not get e-mail. When I try to get e-mial it states "No message services configured."

When I try to use the set up wizard it states uncaught exception java.lang.nullPointer Exception.

Any thoughts? Or do I just need to contact IT at this point?

Thank you in advance

Same problem as king_wang.
Believe me, it is a real distress and to find solution is not easy!
It is incredible that there is no devise to protect internet surfing on BB.
To erase the icon of the Internet browser creates problems to receive and send mail.
Any further technical suggestion would be very apreciated.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
