Tether Bold to PS3?

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if it is possible to tether my BlackBerry 9700 to my Playstation 3.
I live in an area where high speed is not available, so this is my only option. I always tether my Bold to my Mac and get relatively high speeds doing this. Data usage is irrelevant since we are on Presidential Services with Rogers.
Would I have to..... tether my BlackBerry to my Mac (which also runs Windows 7) and then somehow connect the computer to the PS3? Or is there any way to do it with just the BlackBerry? I cant find bluetooth options on my PS3 anywhere.

One way would be to tether to your Mac (in OS X) over USB, and use the WLAN card in your Mac to turn your Mac into a soft access point.
The best solution is to purchase a Rogers Rocket Hub.

I don't mean to be annoying but if you know, can you give me instructions on how to do what you mentioned about WLAN? I have no idea what to do... also, I only know how to tether via USB with Windows 7... when I'm on OSX, I connect through bluetooth, so I don't know how to do it via USB.
I'd really appreciate a walk through if you know how! |

Check the Mac section for the tethering instructions, and then to create the WiFi network, you'll click on the Airport icon and choose to create a network. It's pretty straight forward from there.

I'm already tethered, and I just clicked airport, and then create a network. It said something about channels though? I did it on the auto channel and it doesnt seem to be doing anything... ?

Pick any channel you want... Your PS3 will link up.

What I did was tether my PC with my Bold 9000. Then I shared that tethered connection to my 10/100 Mbps LAN connection. I then used a crossover ethernet cable (you can buy one or make one) to connect my PC to the PS3. From there it was pretty straight forward.

That would work as well, but only if the computer were in the same room as the PS3. I'm not sure if that is the case for the OP.

I tried to create a wireless ad-hoc network with my PC but the PS3 could not detect it when scanning for available networks. I have a feeling the the PS3 OS disregards ad-hoc networks when scanning...a better solution would probably be to get some type of wireless router or AP that you can share the tethered connection on the PC to. |

Mac computers can actually create a soft access point/router whereas PCs can only create ad-hoc networks without third-party software.

Ah, gotcha...makes sense to me. I'm just glad that I got the tethered connection to share over to my PS3. Its not quite fast enough to play online without latency issues, but you can still browse the internet, send and receive messages and friend requests. |

Yeah, cellular connections are definitely not as reliable.

YES you can!
Google Tether berry. Go to first website. it has a t logo that is blue if you are not sure. wait.
you can dowload for free for 7 days to see if you like it also. ok install that on your phone and pc.
connect to internet with the tether program on pc. goto internet connections and find your tether connection and goto properties and allow it to be shared. shared connection. save
hook ps3 with ethernet cable to computer. sign on. trust me it works but you may have to do a little more research on anyspecific problems.
as for the program, i have 4 out of 5 bars (i believe) on my phone and the connection is good for games. modern warfare 2 is also good but finding a game to get into is hard but once your there its no lag or anything. if someone calls your phone, you f'd. text messages dont mess it up to much. if you got a friend online its easy to connect to his game instead of waiting. im trying to figure out how to make it faster but so far, no luck. have fun and like i said its free for 7 days so...
