Currently have a BES running 4.0 and I am in the process of getting BES 5.0.1 into production. We are not keeping the current DB on the BES 4.0 server and having the 30 users activate to the new BES 5.0.1.

My question is the following. Is there a way to setup the BES 5.0.1 to automatically notice the old IT Policy and require an auto wipe of the device? Right it will notice the different policy on the device and get a message to wipe the device before activating the device.

I know the BES 5.0.1 service will see a different account and automatically do a reset of the device. My problem is the users are not changing accounts just servers with different policies.

Or will the transproter tool do what I am looking for.

I want the new policy to be pushed the the device. If I can get away from having the users wipe the device that is a plus.

My problem is I was given the 4.0.1 server and no one in the department set it up nor has any idea what was done with it. So we are looking at a clean slate with the 5.0.1 server.

IT policy will not tranfer over to a new server. Only inplace upgrade will do that, not sure on BES 4.0 if it do it.

You need SP7 on BES 4.0 then you can use transporter.
Best to use default IT policy then transport, after you can apply new IT policy on BES 5.0
