Wirelessly posted (Breaking Ball)

Get a BlackBerry Data Plan if you want this functionality.

No BB data plan, no decent mapp app.

Check the GOS & Map section for reviews on most of the map apps for the BB. there are a couple stand alones but from the info I have read, they aren't that good.

If you really need a GPS device, buying a standalone, dedicated GPS app makes more sense to me, especially since the cost has come down.

I am using a BlackBerry 8310 with at&t MediaNet unlimited (no BB data plan), and Google Maps works for me flawlessly. I am using version 3.2.0 (#3227). The only thing I can't do with Google Maps is log in for their "Latitude" tracking or their new layers thing. Other than that, GPS and searching the maps works fine. I'm able to find addresses and businesses and even show traffic on the map and view satellite imagery.

I also use Microsoft Live Search.

Are you able to use the browser to get on the web?

Just be advised that ATT scans IMEIs periodically and if they see that you have a BB and do not have the BB data plan, they will kindly switch it over for you. They got my switch from a dumb phone to the new BB even before I had time to call and add it.

When I look at my account online, it already shows that they know I am using the BlackBerry. I switched to using the BlackBerry on this line last summer, and I am still only being charged the $15/month for MediaNet unlimited. If I put my sim card back into my Moto Izar, it automatically changes back on my account page. So I know they are scanning the IMEI and seeing that I am using a BB.

Under the Features section, it gives me the option to add the BB data plan, but I always just ignore it.

Thanks for the tip, though, I will be sure to keep an eye on it.

I have been using Google Maps on my 8310 for the last 2 years without any issues. I am currently using version 3.2.1. It has layers, but I generally use the map, directions, search features.
