Default Cingular and SSH

As a non-BB user planning to purchase a Cingular 7290 this week, can anyone confirm that one of the available SSH clients will work in this configuration. I will be using a BES server.

Also, what is the speed like using SSH over cingular?

Thanks for any help.

If you have bes, you will have access to SSH.

You can choose from any of the pay clients ($199 and up) or use the open source free version (google: midpssh!)

Just go for it, you won't have any problems.

Default SSH

I have MidpSSH on my 7290, and it seems to work on Cingular. I haven't used it enought to know how useful it will be. I think for occasional use it will work, but it's most likely going to seem slow.

Well I currently use a laptop connected to my cell phone on the Verizon network. It is not fast, but is workable for ssh access. I am hoping a blackberry can perform as well for the times when a laptop is not feasable.

I have used my Blackberry to stop and start services. Of course, it's much easier to do it from a laptop, but for times like you mentioned where a laptop is not available I think SSH over a BB works well.

If you are a student, Idokorro is only $19.95. Just so you know.

You're welcome! Have fun!

I use MidpSSH. I think you can get it from http://www.xk72.com/midpssh/.

I looked on their site but couldn't find anything about a student version, what do I have to do to prove that I am a student?

I think that you have to contact them directly to inquire about the student version.
