Wink Should I even upgrade?????

Please Login to Remove!

I've been reading the boards and wondering if I should even bother upgrading. I got the message on my device to do it but do I need to? I'm not in the mood to wake up with problems on my bb.... BUT if this upgrade is great then............ Opinions please...

Oh and when I tried to select "cancel upgrade" it asks if I'm sure because downloaded info won't be saved???? Does that matter?

thanks friends

For certain, if you decide to upgrade, do a backup FIRST using Desktop Manager, and do the manual upgrade using the instructions at the top of this 9630 section of this forum.

Does it make sense that every Tour OS seems bugged? I am amazed that RIM released the Tour with major issues with the Profiles, never generated a fix, and now releases 5.0 on Verizon with new bugs. I have US Cellular and had been complaining that they are so slow to release an OS. Well now, I hope they wait until there is a "better" 5.0 they can make official. But can someone explain what this means about RIM as a company, or what their strategy can possibly be with this kind of customer service?

IMHO, if your device is working as you want and need, then it isn't broken and doesn't need to be fixed.

I am probably in the minority among those who post, but there are too many things that could go wrong and too many things that don't seem to work exactly as they did previous to the upgrade.

Okay, I made the mistake of upgrading to this OS at the prompting of Verizon. I'm having many of the same issues that are posted and I'm mad at BB for screwing up my device. What is the best, most stable OS for the 9630 Verizon Tour and where can I get it?

Thank you

If the one you were running previously was working fine, revert to it.

I'm sorry to sound stupid, but I've never reverted to a previous OS. What is that procedure? A brief recap should be all I need, I can usually work through these tasks.

Thank you

How do I downgrade the OS on my BlackBerry? - BlackBerryFAQ

1. Delete the newer OS from your PC by going to Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs.

2. Then download and install the older version of the OS. BlackBerry Operating System Downloads

3. Install the older OS to the PC by running (double clicking) the file you downloaded.

4. Go to c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader and delete the file named "vendor.xml."

5. Plug in BB and double click on "Loader.exe." It's located in the same place as the above vendor.xml file.

Wink

So I did the upgrade.... first I downloaded the link from this site on the main page....then I linked up my usb to my bberry.... So far it seems ok... there were a few icons to be moved etc.... but nothing much.. I'll come back after using the new version for a full day and let you know.

one thing I can't find is the icon for is my PIN messages... or messages that are sent to my blackberry email....

Stay tuned

Look for BOTH in your main Messages folder. If you have that folder hidden, Unhide it.
