Hello everyone, my son just went to the States to study for a year. As he doesn't have a Social Secuity number he hasn't been able to get a phone with a contract.
It appears that a prepaid phone is the only alternative but I want him to have a Blackberry so we can connect through BBM. I have searched and found out that a prepaid data plan is not easy to get.
Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks to all. I just got a BB messenger message from him. He got a Curve at Boost Mobile with a $60 Unlimited Data plan, just as jbairdjr posted.

For some reason, I thought FlexPay went away when TMO came out with the Even More and Even More Plus plans late last year (around the time I left TMO) but looks like it is still around. It is important to the OP to know that he needs to ask about FlexPay, not PrePaid for TMO.

In the FAQ referenced above, TMO differentiates FlexPay from prepaid as follows.
