Excuse my naive ways regarding the parts of the phone but my daughters Blackberry pearl 8100 has broken at the point where you plug it in to charge it,
am i right in saying these are charging blocks ?
are they easy to fit ?
and am i ok to charge her battery by installing it in my 8520 curve overnight or will it destroy my curve ?
I think you are referring to the usb port at the side of the device (where device is plugged in for charhing or synching). If the usb port is damaged, one option be might to purchase a charging dock. This will charge the device via the 2 metal contacts at the bottom rear of the device by the battery door latch. Unfortunately synching might be impaired.
As for putting her battery into your 8520: 1) not sure if it even fits since the newer BBs have a bigger battery; and 2) even if it does fit, it may not work. I think the batteries work by device only. I once tried to put a 8320 battery into a 8120, and it wouldn't even power up.
The pearl's battery is different from the 8520. You could always buy one of these RIM chargers for just the battery or as mentioned above, the charging pod.
