Default Blackberry 8900 microphone drops and battery issues..

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all,

I am new to this forum. I recently purchased a used blackberry 8900, it is unlocked. I have been experiencing some problems however. First, the battery life sucks, I barely use this thing and the battery meter drops very fast. Second, people are complaining that they can't hear me well. I have to speak right into the microphone for them to hear me clearly, if I move my mouth even a few inches away from the phone, the voice drops significantly to the other person. Please advise on how/what to do. My version is - V4.6.1.231 Thanks.

Did you wipe the device first?

I updated the software from desktop manager to the version I stated above. I have to scream in order for people to hear me. It sucks and the battery sucks.

well... i think it's a hardware problem.. even on my old pearl 8100 the sound quality was superior in calls. Try to look at the hole of the microphone, see if some dirt got into there.. I hope for the best that it did and the only thing necessary for you is to clean that... I don't know how though, on the pearl, the bottom wich covers the microphone and antenna came off... on the 8900 I don't know how to clean it up.

LE: if you have a little knowledge of how to (or read trough the forum) try to update to the 5.0.0.619 beta OS version, for me it's really good on battery life... Watch out for excessive wi-fi usage because it's a pig on battery life. do not let wi-fi activated while you're not using it, that may be the problem your battery goes out that quickly.
