Can you describe the problem and what this OS version does to make it worse? I am not seeing any problems with SMS (or anything else) in this version... rock solid for me.

I can't get this one to load. I deleted the vendor.xml file. It is the only OS I have installed. I do not have a file labeled compatibility.

I'm running Desktop 5.0.1.

Any help would be appreciated.

No issues from me thus far, loaded it back on the 15th when the message was posted. SMS works great, battery life is amazing to me! Not sure what the deal is but I don't use wifi nor do I have my screen very bright (turned it down to about 50 - 60), and the last time I streamed from Pandora it was about an hour or two but I had it plugged in...So far everything I use it for works..

Yes. No deal. I got a notice saying my loading software couldn't load a version this advanced.

version 5.0.0593

With lots of messages in the thread the thread locks and it isnt possible to access any of the messages. Baterry pull works until maybe 2 or 3 more messages arrive and then the tread locks again. Only solution is to delete thread. The lock happens with less messages in the thread with this OS.

I have seen that too. Shame, given I'm not a fan of the SMS threading now.

Also have you noticed is you send to multiiple receipients you can't seem to see delivery receipts from them individually any more That's been the case since we got the SMS threading 'improvement'

I just installed it today and so far I haven't noticed any major problems. In terms of battery life, I can't really say whether there is an improvement because I was using my 9700 more than usual today. The only problem that I encountered was that BBWeather Free for some reason didn't seem to work properly (it would show the wrong starting day for the weather... for example, the leftmost date today was Sunday for some reason. The "observed time" was also way off. I did the standard battery pull and it didn't fix the problem. I also deleted and reinstalled the application and it still didn't solve the problem so I installed a different weather application on my Bold 9700.

Sorry for the newbie questions but...
1) is it normal that after the upgrade, you have to reconfigure the settings for almost all your installed programs?
2) does the MyWorld in the Blackberry Apps World automatically get wiped out so that it no longer shows the past programs that you've installed?

Can this update be used for any carrier? I am brand new to the Blackberry (got mine yesterday)... Why does it say CSL limited customers?

I am with T-Mobile...

Thanks

Yes, I saw that.. But I thought it meant that all OS files are loaded the same way regardless of carrier.

So any OS works for any carrier?

It's a shame that your search button is broken.

Yes, if you remove the VENDOR.XML file you can install this on any 9700... this one says "CSL Limited" because a wireless provider named CSL Limited is the one that blessed and released (and for their customers, provides support for) this release.

Bit snarky aren't we? He's got like all of 11 posts...and he explained that he had another view of what he read.

It wasn't snarky at all. The OS release announcement clearly stated ANY CARRIER... and SEARCH would have returned the answer to his question. It's not like it's never been asked and answered here, ad nauseum.

Yes, I'm not arguing that, only that he has little experience here and asked because he didn't know...despite what you mentioned. Unfortunately, not everyone knows how to "search" as well as some of the more experienced users. That's all I was saying.

1. Yes
2. It doesn't get wiped out...the functionality of MyWorld is actually kind of half-assed at best. It only remembers apps that you have paid for. It does not keep track of free downloads. You have to manually reinstall free apps that you had.
