Delete WAP profile
Please Login to Remove!
As soon as I inserted me new sim card with bis plan into my blackberry I got a message saying thatwap and mms is activated. I also seem to have a wap profile which I do not need. What way is there to delete in order to feel at ease not to get charged by mistake?
Also itseems I had the browser to hotspot mode but I opened a couple of pages before tuening it to internet browser. I hope I wasn't charged with wap but bis was used instead.

Hotspot browser will only work with wi-fi.
It will not use mobile connection, or WAP.

Yes I know but since there was no hotspot around and it did connect the question is how did it connect?
Via WAP or BIS?

It shouldn't have connected at all, if set to hotspot. It literally cannot connect without an active wi-fi profile.

Unless you were on wi-fi and didnt know it, it couldnt have been hotspot browser.
Only way to tell is if you get online billing, look at it and see if you have been charged.
Back to the original point, you can't delete the WAP browser, however Options - Advanced - Browser - Browser Config - Top option set to Internet Browser; it will use BIS or wi-fi depending on the current connection. But won't use WAP.

There was no available AP at the time so i am sure there was no wireless.
I just registered for online billing and when my account is confirmed i plan to see what happened.
Of course i went ahead and changed the hotspot browser to internet browser as soon as it connected.
But is it certain that it hadnt connected via wap when setting was on hotspot browser?
A couple of additional things.
A)Is it possible to set hotspot browser when available over internet browser? Give priorit to wireless that is
B)I also read that when connecting via BIS the 3G icon adds a blackberry icon next to it, and gprs/gsm becomes GPRS. IF connecting with wap (i guess it's considered a data plan right) or whichever data plan, what icon will you see? A plain 3G icon with no blaackberry and the previous gprs/gsm?

If wireless is active, internet browser will use it.
No.
Your gonna see 3G (dots) because you have that data connection, not seeing it when using it.
I always kept my Bold on 2G because of poor 3G in certain areas of my house. I always saw GPRS as network connection, whether I was browsing the internet or not.
That is the connection you have, not "im using this connection".
It wont change when you try to use WAP.

Yes you're correct, i had switched off Wi-Fi that's why i didnt see the SSID name on the top of the home screen when inside my house, and that's what got me confused and made me ask this question.

Ok so the exact behavior is this:
When i reset my phone and every time it boots up, it goes to a point where it launches the browser. When the browser launches, the boot logo appears as background and on the bottom it says "requesting" and then it proceeds to load the following page
"https://bis.eu.blackberry.com/wap?brand=mycarrier" (Where my carrier is actually my carrier.)
And this page redirects to the email account setup.
The questions are.
-Why does it load each time when the device boots without even asking me, especially when i have already set on my own all of the email accounts i want to receive mail from?
-And how come this page loaded even when i had the hotspot browser option selected. Manually i could not load pages when out of wifi, since i got a message saying "this is available only via wifi" or something like that.
But this page loads even with the hotspot option.

Are your launching the browser or are clicking the icon that says mycarrier mobile web, best when I click that the boot logo appears, but it does not redirect me to my email account setup. Also, are you positive that you have hotspot browser selected and not mycarrier mobile web?

Actually i just realized that what happens is that it launches the email setup upon boot, but since it runs in a browser like environment i thought that it launched the browser.
But the email setup app uses internet connection, in order to reach the host right?
Menu->Setup->Email settings
This is the application i'm reffering to.

The email settings needs a BIS connection available in order to run if that is what you are asking.

Yes of course it needs BIS. I'm just asking why the e-mail settings wizard automatically launches every time the BB boots up. I have already set up my email accounts. I dont need it to boot up every time for no reason.

It shouldn't do that.
Never heard of issues of it doing that, so cant advise as to why its doing it.
