Today I bought the blackberry curve on contract at phones 4 u. I wanted to keep my old number (pay as you go) so he phoned o2 etc. and it said it should transfer my old number over to my new contract within 72 hours and that I should use a temporary number till then. So I put in the tempory simcard and now it is coming up with that I have full signal etc. but when I go to send a text it says "network out of order".

Can anyone help me out please?

If you have a good signal then the phone should be ok. That means a problem with the account is blocking the network.

Does it take a while to register it all though cos it's a new sim? Should I just leave it on and let it work itself out?

SMS is a phone problem, not a BB problem.

As for waiting or not, that is your call. How much do need the SMS feature? And if it doesn't "sort itself out" then what?

Obviously O2 did not provision the SIM card properly, as SMS has nothing to do with BlackBerry service. And properly provisioned SIM card - with or without a data plan - can do voice and SMS.

It's an O2 provisioning problem.
