Default Latest software and sim card problems

Please Login to Remove!

Recently i updated the software to the latest version 5.0
Ever since the phone keeps loosing the sim card or it comes up not a valid sim or sim card error.

The only way to fix this is to do a battery pull for several times until eventually i get everything working again.

It is not a sim card problem as it happens on both my phones which are on different networks so that rules out phone faults as well.

Has anyone else had this problem?

So you've ruled out the sim card..and you've ruled out the phone.
Theres nothing left.

so you have 2 phones, on 2 different networks, and it happens to both?
Nothing in common in either phone?

The only thing in common is that both 8900 are now on the latest software.

I did wipe both phones before installing the software but didn't remove either sims from the phones when i did it but they did work after so guess it cannot be a problem there.
Just looked at my work phone and its lost the sim again as of now.

Just an update on the problem i was having, as it turned out. both sim cards had developed faults at almost the same time.

What is the chance of that happening?

Now, for another question, can the information on the old sim cards be copied to the phones so i don't loose it, or is that impossible?

BK

What information are you hoping to pull from the sim card?

The only information that the sim typically carries is the information from your carrier allowing the device to properly use the network. You can store contacts on them, but why would you store your contacts on the sim card and not your blackberry when the blackberry can be synchronized, and therefore backed up, on a computer?

You said you wiped the devices prior to installing the newest software, but did you back up both devices to a computer before doing so? If not, and you're assuming all of that data was stored on the sim card, you're going to be very upset.

Hi and thanks for reply, my old phone used to store info on the sim before anything else and there were a few i wanted to keep for various reasons so i guess that is not possible from your reply.

Everything else was backed up on the Blackberry so haven't lost any other info.
