Just for the record, I only backed up my phone, installed the new OS, restarted the DM, upgraded, did no wipe or anything and everrything is working perfectly lol. And to note, I'm with Bell Canada

ROGERS Service Center Number Change
Hey all another issue I ran into today is unable to send SMS messages on 3G....Basically I had no issues sending them over wi-fi, but away from wi-fi I could not.
The Culprit was the Rogers SMS Service Center Number in the options menu.
Mine had a +604something number
Changed it to +17057969300
(complete with the +) << very important
now it works all good just a heads up for ya guys it caught me off guard thats for sure

BIS E-Mail Setup Problem
Some more info: I installed the OS on an AT&T 9700 without issue. I can access the BIS account setup page on that device, but not on my T-Mobile 9700.

AFAIK, SMS can only be done through the mobile network, not WiFi. I have tried through WiFi before, with no success, ever. You can't place calls through WiFi either, unless you're using a SIP client. I just tried SMS again on Bell Mobilite using WiFi, again with no success. The fact that you had to enter an actual service center phone number to dial to, indicates to me that it didn't work through WiFi for you either...but I could be wrong.

No problems installing and all applications are working. Downloaded two themes from Blackberry App World and both work with OS 6. App World actually updated my profile and now shows me using OS 6.

My mistake. The themes do NOT work. Changing berry weather and my background picture does not a new theme create

I'm running a 9700 on TMobile US and was able to get my BIS accounts back. But they were restored during a device restore using the Desktop Manager. I haven't tried (and will avoid now) deleting the yahoo mail account on the device.
I had a hell of a time with BES activation. BAS wouldn't even recognize the phone when it was plugged in. The only saving grace was the BES service books were on the 9700 and I was able to do an OTA activation even though I'm not provisioned for BES and haven't needed to be since I'm running in a BESx environment.
I really do like the device alot better with 6.0. Some pre-configured reports in emails I get look a little different, for better and worse, but I will work with it and see if I can change the formatting. But overall the upgrade has been worth it.
I have a whole user community of mostly 9650's, I'm still hesitant for deploying the final 6.0 release to the users. It is a departure from the simple home screen with all your icons in 3.x through 5.0. I wish we could turn off the other tabs, it's just is something thats not necessary.

Feedback:
> I can not past the phone number in address book. I copied a well formatted phone number from sms/email and tries edit/pasting in the address book entry and there is no pop up menu when you click BB key.
>Started off little slow but after the full battery pull and clean up the cache etc, its running much faster now.
> I did the selective restore of address book, tasks, memo etc and everything else I installed again and works great.
>Global Search works great but I am not using it from home screen (I disabled it)
>Podcasts are being saved at different location. Earlier they used to be saved right into video folder. No big issue at all. This is even more organized.

Just to add my voice, the update was as smooth as any OS upgrade has ever been. I didn't do anything other than revert back to the default RIM theme prior to upgrading (just in case).
I have quite a few paid apps and my memory free before upgrade was 84MB. After upgrade: 50MB. The phone has been running 24 hours with normal usage and not a single glitch to report.
I am on Rogers.
List of apps that I use a lot that work fine:
Berryweather, Quicklaunch, Datavault, Viigo, Smrtguard Pro, Scoremobile, NHL Gamecenter 2010, Nobex Radio, Google Maps, Urbanspoon, Podtrapper.
The only app that has a bit of a problem is Yahoo Finance. It works but the menu scrolling is way too fast so something is not quite right.
Bluetooth and Wifi all connected perfectly as before. Battery life seems as good as before. UI is snappy and I do not detect any lag whatsoever (which would have been a deal breaker for me.)
All is all, this is a very solid release and obviously has been thoroughly tested by RIM before being 'leaked' to the early adopters.
Two thumbs way up for this but RIM might be shooting themselves in the foot here since I no longer feel any need to upgrade my trusty 9700. ;)

So battery life is vastly improved.
From Tuesday at about 4pm with 85% batter to this morning (Nov 4th) at 9am. I'm at 55% and still have 81MB free.
OS6 ROCKS!

Weird.

on some complex webpages it will run out of memory dues to all the data the page holds.

I'm trying again. This time I did a full wipe with jl_cmder and clean install. Maybe that'll make it run a bit smoother.

Looks like that might have been the ticket. This time around, I had ~80mb free, which about 20 more than before. And it even syncs properly with my Mac now. sweet.

I had trouble with trying to upgrade the OS on my wife's new 9700, both to 5.0.0.xxx and with this 6.0 version. Neither DM nor BBSAK would do a normal OS upgrade with either a later version of OS5.0 or this new OS6.0. It was activated and functioned with the original OS that came on it so I was reluctant to do anything that might brick it. However, I finally wiped it with BBSAK and attempted to load the new OS. That left me with the white screen and a device that would not take any OS After arranging for a replacement from Amazon I decided to give it *one more try*... I used BBSAK to wipe again and then attempted to load the OS6 with it. That worked! So, now the reluctant 9700 is looking good with OS6. Memory is at 90M, which should be enough since my wife does not run lots of apps.... Guess the lesson learned is that one wipe may not be enough - keep trying!

had this same issue. All my settings were right, but still wouldn't send via cell network. Worked fine over wifi though.
Did a battery pull and it started working again.

so I've been running for almost 48 hours without a charge and im at 50% battery life. In 6 hours I've lost only 5%!
I've been connected to wi-fi, had a couple texts and bbm's and about 20-30 emails today so minimal use, but WOW does it have great standby battery life!

Just loving 6.0.0.344, good battery life, super browser dont need Bolt, Opera anymore, very responsive. universal search, sick interface. No problems at all after deleting that tmobile theme cod. I especially love my camera now with all the different modes. I have not put back a lot of my apps though. Does anyone know the minimum memory to leave free for optimum performance?
