Question what is 'xpress mail' mean vs. 'data plan' on Amazon for 8700c ?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello everyone and thanks for reading,

I am ready to check out with my Amazon order, except I see Xpress Mail instead of Data Plan.

Would the two mean the same thing? If not, what's the difference?

My fingers are trembling to click 'proceed to checkout' ....

Thanks in advance!

Confirmed! I've had my Cingular/Amazon 8700c for a couple of days, and what amazon calls the Xpress Mail is the Cingular Unlimited Data plan. Spoke with Cingular CSR and was told I'm on the Unlimited plan

Go ahead...hit that checkout button! You'll be rewarded nicely since after the rebate they're actually paying you to take delivery

Xpress Mail is actually a program that is very similar to Blackberry Desktop redirector. No Blackberries are actually availible with it yet though...Amazon just has they're data plan named incorrectly, as Xpressmail uses the wap.cingular gateway, and Blackberry uses blackberry.net

How did you find a blackberry plan for Cingular. I am only offered voice plans. I cant find a Data plan. When I select the 8700 I get a choice of 14 voice plans. Not one data plan.

Getting unlimited data plan is required when you buy the 8700 thru Amazon. -- no matter what you do it will automatically be added to your shopping cart -- as the posts mention it above, Amazon will show the cingular data plan as Xpress Mail in the cart. -- Xpress Mail includes the data plan.

Thanks all for your response. I've ordered my phone--currently waiting for "final determination of service eligibility from Cingular" -- (this is somehting Amazon must do before they can complete the purchase...guess it's like a credit check).

I placed my order and saw no message that stated that...where did you see that?

It's in an email that they've sent me after I placed my order. I think every order goes through this. Takes about two days...-- just recieved email from Amazon stating that I'm good to go!

What's the deal with the SIM card?

Someone said in another tread that SIM card is NOT included in the order thru Amazon and he had to get one from an actuall Cingular store...

Can anyone who got their phones thru Amazon please clarify this?

I am waiting on my phone but would get SIM card ahead of time if I know for sure that it won't be included...

Thanks in advance!

I just received my 8700c that I ordered through Amazon. It came with the SIM card. I ordered the calling plan, and Blackberry unlimited plan, I did not need the Cingular Data plan (since I've got the Blackberry unlimited data plan).

One note, I recommend hiding the Cingular browser application on your 8700c so you don't inadvertantly use Cingular data minutes. You can just use the Internet browser application to browse using the Blackberry data plan.

Enjoy.

BTW - this is my first Blackberry and I'm amazed at how much I use it. Much more than I thought I would initially.
