My employer recently install a BES and working great. Can I still sychronize organizer data using BB desktop software from home laptop?

Generally the BES service will do calendar and contacts via the wireless service. Some companys do not use the wireless contacts OTA but for full details on what your company is doing you need to ask your IT group.
Doing a local Sync is possible on your laptop. If you use a VPN to gain access to your corporate network, I would log in and have what ever you use online Outlook etc.

You need to speak with the BES Admin and your IT shop to find out what is and is not allowed. Trying to circumvent company policies can be cause for termination.
