Question Can I make it vibrate just once?

Please Login to Remove!

In the Vibrate profile messages result in the 8700c vibrating twice with a gap of about a second. So in order to know that the vibration is being caused by a phone call as opposed to message, I have to wait to see if it will vibrate a third time. Which means I'm not picking up phone calls as fast as I'd like.

Question: is there a way to force 8700 to vibrate just once for messages. Or is there an alternative to force it to vibrate differently for messages (faster, for example, with shorter gap in between vibrations)?

Thanks.

I want this too!!! Frustrating to have to wait to see if it vibrates a third time if it's a call. It would be great if messages only vibrated once.

anyone figure this out?

Give this a try: http://www.webmessenger.com/products/mablackberry.htm

It is a WebMessenger product called Message Alert that allows you to assign email rules like spam filters, and set rules for SMS messages and phone incoming calls. You can also have it set to vibrate and ring at the same time instead of vibrate, then ring like the default BB feature. Also, you can set the number of vibrations or rings, so I think it will work for you. You will have to set your normal profile settings to "None" though so it win't interfere with these settings. Also, you are limited to the included ring options on the program, not allowing you to use the BB ringers. That's the best option for you at the moment, I think.

I appreciated the suggestion. Went and looked at the description and it sounds like a useful product for a numer of reasons, including my original query. One catch is the price. $20 seems pretty steep for a utility, but I will use the trial version to judge for myself...
