I had problems with my curve 8330. I accidentally erased all my data; I have managed to re sync my contatcts and my calendar. Everything seems to work except I do not get notification when I recieve an email on my vianet acc(the one I use mostly). Google and hotmail work. I did something wrong and do not know how to fix it. Can anyone help with this? Thank you.

Have you tried logging into your BIS site and resending the service books to the device?

But you say you are receiving email, right? Just no alert? ... Find the "sounds" app or whatever it is labeled on your handset. Click it and select "set ringtones/alerts" or whatever it is on your model/OS. Then work your way through the settings and edit as desired. Then save. Edit the other profiles as desired.

The problem is that my vianet add is not listed there; only gmail and hot mail add. I do recieve emails from vianet with NO notifications When I send out mails it goes out with gmail instead of my regular vianet. I spent hours trying to re enter my email add and it tells me it was a success, yet it's not there, so I can't add a ring tone. really confused. Thanks.

You say "there"... Where? You need to be specific so that we do not waste our time. By "there", do you mean in the profile settings?

I'm goimg to assume you mean profile settings.... In that case, delete the "vianet" email address from BIS.

Then open the options screen on the handset, navigate to the service books screen, and delete all entries that contain the "vianet" address. These will also include CICAL or CMIME in the entry name. (This step may or may not be necessary. If you aren't comfortable with it, then skip. But you may end up starting over and deleting them anyway.)

Do a hard reset. (With power on, remove the battery for at least 30 seconds.)

Resend service books.
