Default New Icon just appeared - 7290 Cingular

Please Login to Remove!

Looks like a washing machine (box with an arrow) and titled "Individual e-mail activation" I have had device for almost a year without this icon. Any ideas what this is and why I would need it? Is it legit?
Thanks.

its for individual email activation. Like if you are on BES you can also configure your personal mail to forward to your handheld instead of just your corp mail. Feel free to hide the icon if it bothers you though.

There is another post on this currently, in it they mention it could be the possible start of the BIS type system rollout. I agree with inphektion but please take a look at that post. Perhaps you are in the first phase rollout. Its worth a look.

This, I believe, is the new upgraded BIS system that allows you to have multiple "From:" email addresses.

I got the same icon when I upgraded to 4.1 OS. I also agree with blkberryboy, it looks like it is the beginning of the rollout of the BIS because what it seems to do is give you handheld control of your BWC account. I just hid it for now.

This was also on the 8700 from Cingular out of the box. I did not try it because I didn't know what it was and I had already gone into my BWC to change over to my new BB while it was charging. Tried it out today and all it does is open a WAP enabled site to activate your BWC and setup the email addresses through the Cingular (WAP) browser. It may be in preparation for the rollout if the new BISn but it appears to be set up for the current Cingular BWC as it allowed me to log in with my BWC username and password.

Hope this helps.

Well I Just finally had a go at it, and it is the beginnings of the BIS after all. It lets you change the sent from but one at a time rather than set up different ones to choose from. It lets you add accounts up to ten I believe, but that is as far s it ook it for the test drive since it is not something that interests me or concerns me much.

I didn't spend a whole lot of time there, but I don't remember seeing anything about filters, so you still have to access the BWC/BIS from a PC.
