Default Nextel and Bell Mobility Usage

Please Login to Remove!

Hello!!

I am from Canada and use the Bell Mobility network. However, I work in the United States 5 months out of the year. I was wondering if it is possible to get an unlocked Nextel or Bell Phone, or something so I would be able to fully use the blackberry 7100 series on a CDMA network and switch between Canada and the US.

Please let me know anything I need to know. I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks!
Alex

The only 71xx device that Bell offers is the 7130e (which is a great BB). You could always add US roaming to your account and I would imagine that, while you're in the US, you would use the verizon network.

I'm still using a Bell BB6750 (old device) and while I'm in the US, I have no issues at all with service. US roaming is an expensive feature though.

For US voice service Bell Mobility partners with various local companies. If you are a frequent US traveller your best bet would be to subscribe to one of the Business North America plans:

BNA 200, $70.00 /month
BNA 400, $100.00 /month
BNA 800, $170.00 /month
BNA 1600, $300.00 /month

For occaisional travel to the US the "USA Connect" feature may be a better option: 100/month US roaming minutes for $40 on top of your monthly rate.

For data, Bell Mobility primarily uses Sprint's data network and you will be charged $8/Mb on top of your monthly data rate for any US bandwidth.
