I was wondering if it is possible to be able to synchronize the exchange global address book locally to each blackberry so there is a copy on the device.

Our sales guys need to be able to search the global address book even if they have no 3G or wifi access.

Is this possible?

It's not possible with BES.
There might be some third-party software to handle this, but I've never seen anything that actually worked well.

We use a public contact folder for this, but it's not in sync with the GAL. Someone needs to maintain the PCF manually.

You should be able to export the list to a file, build it out on the server and push to the devices. We did it a while back but cannot remember exactly how we did it.
