Perhaps you need to delete BBM and then re-install it fresh from App World.

This is a wild guess...It sounds like however you are selecting the picture, you are seeing something different than what is being selected. This in my mind would seem to have a possible similarity to the issue with corrupt .dat files messing up playlists and so forth. If reinstalling app world doesn't fix it -- or even before reinstalling app world -- try deleting all your .dat files and see what happens. It's a long shot, but it won't hurt. .... But then again, if you are selecting files directly from the folder and not from the media app, then this isn't going to be it.
