Many users running the 9930 report that the battery life on that device is excellent. Few running the 9900 have decent battery life, and when you review (the few) that claim outstanding battery life, you realize that they aren't credible. Mass opinion on the 9900 battery states very poor life...

I guess the CDMA version uses far less battery, which is unusual for RIM, considering their CDMA devices in the past had inferior battery life.

Ah gotcha well I have noticed the signal on this phone is much better than my previous BB's and even my Droids. Not sure if that has something to do with it plus I use the network extender at my house and stay on Wifi when here.

I'm 10 days into using my 9900.

I'll go 10 hours on a full charge....not as good as previous BBs. I use the camera several times a day and view videos regularly, so this drains juice no doubt.

I don't mind so much if it can last a solid day. I keep a charger in the car and also recharge every night....

How do you think RIM can claim a 12Day standby time?

What is this claim based on?, setup? etc..

Thanks all!

Easy, pure standby time, with ZERO activity - no data/no phone etc...and in an area with perfect reception and minimum transmit /receive power required etc...

Most who are claiming really bad battery life have probably just transferred over their apps from their older unit, and don't even realize that the app, while working, is cauing issues with the OS, or are, for some reason getting a really bad signal.

The same with those who claim somewhere around 2 - 4 days!? Are you kidding me!? Light to Moderate use they will also claim (I hope that means turning off all connections and looking at it longingly from across the room)

After going through App World, I saw that 2 games and 2 apps that I had were listed as unsupported (Carrier, Country, Device). To be fair, I didn't really have much to complain about before, but I have seen abut a 12% increases in battery life since uninstalling them. I get up and unplug around 06:30 and it keeps going until 22:00 when I plug it back in. Same routine I used to do with my 9780, though never had to.

I only do full device wipes right down to the OS...and either selective data restores, or Enterprise activation's; always done this on all my devices. I have very short battery life on both 9900's I purchased...across 3 different batteries. No apps other than Poynt and xe.com, which do not run in background for me. All other apps remain closed with the exception of the basic 5 BB apps, which can't be closed. My 9780 had about 50% longer battery life between charges with the 9780 screen set to 100% screen brightness and no auto-dimming, as opposed to my 9900 with 50% brightness and auto-dimming enabled.

Hey fellas!

I´m on day3 with 9900 and let´s put it this way...it´s not as bad as it been said, at least not in my case. Still, I recharged it yesterday overnight, used it all day and night (5/6 phone calls, plenty bbm and some e-mails, 1h of music player), didn´t charge it overnight and now, at 11:03, it´s at 36%.
I know it doesn´t even come close to other blackberry´s (i´m coming from a 9780) but hey, it´s a 1.2 ghz processor and a touchscreen...still a lot better than my old andoid!

When I got my 9900 lol... Well first, battery was dying crazy fast (got use to the fact) but then it bricked... was within a week so returned... ALMOST got an iPhone since I wasn't impressed with battery but I did get a new 9900. This 9900 is better. Battery seems a little better each charge cycle I do. I mean really as long as I can have it still going by say midnight. I'm fine. usually around 20-30% by end of the day. I fb, tweet, a LOT of bbm'ing. wi-fi on when i'm away from home router and vice versa. I do miss my 9780 and charging every few days. I'm gonna stick with the 9900 because the amount of pros definitely outweighs the cons to owning the phone.

I'm REALLLYYY hoping they release an extended battery. I don't want to buy an extra so i'm gonna wait. besides battery life I love this berry lol. It's definitely the best berry to date.

The best Blackberry in the future will be a 9900 with a battery life comparable to the 9700, along with auto focus camera. So what if the device will be 2 mm thicker? Build it, RIM!

Coming off of a 9700 which ran hard all day (email, radio, browsing, webcasts, fb, even phone calls) and seldom couldn't make it through the day on a charge the 9930 has been a huge disappointment. Some days it is down to 40% by 10AM (off the charger usually @6AM). I would have kept the 9700 if I wasn't changing carriers.

Sounds like others on this thread are having better luck. I have already tried an OS update and had the battery tested. Should I ask Sprint for a new handset?

Dude, I am reluctant to try the 9900 since my 9700 lasts so long on one charge. I think I will wait for the next generation 9900, even if it means waiting another year.

HORRIBLE battery life for me. I'm down to orange battery by 2 pm every day...weekday making some calls and getting a lot of e-mail, and even on the weekend with minimal usage.

I'd say I get less than half the battery life I got on my 9700. It's not coverage issues because I'm using this phone in the same areas as the 9700. It's not the difference between the 1400 and 1200 mA battery, I would expect a little shorter battery life, but not this much.

I'm eagerly awaiting a thicker battery and cover!

I must have got a magical 9900 because mine lasts all day (16 hours off charger) and I'm at about 30% when plug it back in..

I did delete all the crap off it and removed BBM but battery life for me, has been AWESOME..
