Organization has the BESX setup on the same server as Exchange 2003 SP2. There were no other servers. Now new Exchange 2010 server is added to the domain, and following a procedure to migrate BES users from old 2003 to 2010 server.

BESX has been successfully updated to ver. 5.0.3 MR2. The following step is to update MAPI/CDO 1.2.1 to the latest version provided by MS (Download: Microsoft Exchange Server MAPI Client and Collaboration Data Objects 1.2.1 ), but MS says: "This package will not install on a system on which any version of Microsoft Outlook or Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 or earlier is installed. "

Please advise, how to install MAPI/CDO 1.2.1 on the Exchange 2003 server? Will removal of Exchange 2003 Management Tools actually help in this case? And if it requires removal management tools, how to manage Exchange 2003 server after MAPI/CDO installation, as the server will be still active?

Install a new BES Express server on your Exchange 2010 server and move users over with transporter.

Exchange 2003 server is intended to be decommissioned at some point after, and the server will be dedicated just for BESX. But before it will happen, they need to co-exist for some time.. IT management is also strongly against setting up BESX on the same server as Exchange 2010.
Also, Transporter is only for BES, not BESX, am I correct?
