Default Migrating BESX admin console

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I'm planning to move our BESX admin console from one server to another, the database is located on a remote server and that's staying put. As I understand it, if I'm not worried about some downtime (which I'm not), I won't need to request a new SRP, I can just use our current one, is that correct? Also, if everything is staying the same (same SRP ID, same CAL, same database), is there anything I need to do apart from install BESX on the new server and point it to the existing database?

This is my first real attempt at moving anything BES related so I've done a lot of research online and can't find anything that specifically answers my above question. I hope I've provided enough information but please let me know if there's anything else I should add.

Thanks very much in advance for any advice on this.

Cheers,

sock

Use the latest installer you have, go to any machine which fits the requirement for the BAS console. Install the BAS console. Install all availible fixes so that the BAS is on the same version number then the other BAS. No Downtime, no serial/srp needed - if you really want only a second managment console.

But BESx is made of more components then just the console and the database:
Adding or removing BlackBerry Enterprise Server components - Installation and Configuration Guide - BlackBerry Enterprise Server for IBM Lotus Domino - 5.0.2
(documents ist for BES lotus domino but similar should be existent for BESx)

Maybe read this before installing.
