WindowsPhone 8
Please Login to Remove!
It's been quite a while since my last BB. It was an 8310 if that tells you anything. Since then I've had several iPhones a few Androids and now I'm on my second WP phone. HTC 8x.
So, anyone else using a WP8 or WP7.5 ??

Re: WindowsPhone 8
Yep. 920 here as well. I was going to get an 8X, but Nokia has done a far better job than any other manufacturer with WP in my opinion. Their navigation is second to none, and the build quality is incredible. I also couldn't justify spending the same amount on an 8GB 8X when I could get 32GB 920 (plus inductive charger) for the same price and get all of the other software that Nokia includes.
Also, AT&T gave me a $50 credit on my bill when I called on Wednesday because they were selling the 920 for 49.99 yesterday.

Re: WindowsPhone 8
After fondling all the WP8 offerings it's clear to me that Nokia is the class of the bunch. The only things keeping me from getting one are that I'm a Sprint customer (I'd dump them in a heartbeat though) and the fact that I'm a Mac user. Right now my iPhone 4s integrates so well with iCloud that I'm loath to give it up. WP8 doesn't support CalDAV or CardDAV so getting wireless sync for contacts and calendar just isn't happening.

The Windows Phone app for Mac seems to be pretty good for, and there's nothing I haven't been able to sync wirelessly with my phone (I use Gmail). I have converted everything from iCloud to Skydrive, and so far I'm not looking back.

That's my issue, I just bought a mac book air and am now so integrated with IOS even with a work phone I'm so hesitant to switch right now.

It is actually quite easy to de-integrate. I came from an iPhone 5 and iPad 3 and still have a MacBook Pro and MacBook Air at home. Contacts and calendars on Google, notes were synced to iCloud, and everything backed up to there too. Notes have been my biggest sore spot since leaving my last BES, and the capability to sync in Mountain Lion through iCloud really filled that gap. I have started using OneNote on the phone (which is far more robust than Apple Notes). They sync to Skydrive. I can open notes from OneNote on a Windows PC with Office or through the webapp on my Macs. The other great part is my current job blocks most cloud storage on their network including iCloud and dropbox (my former cloud storage), but they do not block Skydrive.
The other thing I will say is that there is absolutely no substitute for real Microsoft Office on a phone for opening attachments.

Re: WindowsPhone 8
I tried the lumia 920 but went back to my bb9900 because, in my opinion, it handled better my email (google apps), it is a better communication device, and the bbm really ended up being a great tool when, like in my case, i live in one country and work in another one

Re: WindowsPhone 8
I must say that Microsoft's support is quite amazing. My original Lumia rebooted and got stuck wiping yesterday morning but would never finish. I took it to the Microsoft store at Tyson's Corner mall (despite buying it from AT&T directly) that afternoon, explained the situation, and they replaced it with a new (not refurb) device no questions asked. The replacement had the infamous light leak, so I took that one back this morning, and they replaced it as well, even changing to a black one at my request.

Re: WindowsPhone 8
On the first one - the endless gears loop - you do this; hold down the volume down + power + camera
It will reboot and the gears will start - should be less than 5 minutes; if it isn't, do the volume down / power / camera deal again.
It has happened to me twice and this recovered it - thanks to the folks at wpcentral.com

I did the volume down/power combo, and it just went to the same. I didn't know about the camera button addition.

Re: WindowsPhone 8
I had the Lumia 900 running W7.5. It was not that bad. But all of a sudden data started dropping off and battery life dropped dramatically. AT&T gave me a Galaxy SII to replace it.
Any Lumia 900 users now on the 920 - how do they compare?
