Question New to BB, which one, 7290 or 8700c

Please Login to Remove!

Hello everyone,

I have spent the past couple of weeks trying to decide which BB to begin my BB journey. I have had cingular for the last year and after many years and many companies, cingular has done the best. I want to stick with them. I previously used palm os and making the switch due the overall BB device model. I am conflicted by the buying of the new device. 7290 or 8700c?

Can you give insight and opinions to help me with my decision in which to buy. Yes, price is of concern. due to my overall fear of commitment, a one year contract is all I will do. However, there has to be a steadfast case in justifying the $300 difference between the devices. A speakerphone and new display don't justify a $300 increase in price.

One and all, please chime in.

Thank you

It's a tough call. See if you can check them out in person. I have had them all and switched (most recently) from a 7290 to an 8700 and I just love it. Better screen, better back lighting, twice the memory, faster CPU, EDGE network (vs. GPRS) and better ringtone support (not that important to me).

No comparison. I prefer the 8700.

I will second NJBlackberry's recommendation. I have only had two BBs, the 7290 and the 8700 and I find the increased speed and higher resolution screen to be the driving factors. Well worth the difference to me, though YMMV due to circumstances. I will only use my 7290 in emergencies as a backup now.

Hope this helps.

Alot of people knock the build of the 8700 but i was sitting next to someone in class today with a 7290, the plastics are practically the same with a different finsih on them, as best as I could tell. The 8700c finish just looks prettier. I'm convinced it is the same plastic.
