Red face Unorthodox Use of Blackberry...Strange but True

Please Login to Remove!

Being a Blackberry user for a couple of years, I can easily reflect on some great instances of when my Blackberry has "saved the day". Anything from an urgently needed pitch while away from the office, directions when lost and late for a meeting, yadda, yadda.
My latest and craziest...

Backstory
I have a satellite dish, but the place I live won't let me bolt it to the house, and even if I could, it wouldn't see "the bird" (broadcasting lingo for satellite).
So, I mounted it on a post at the side of the yard.
Being as frugal as I am, instead of purchasing a post, I took one from a turn-of the century fallen down barn.
2+ years it survived, and then an insane windstorm blew it over. snapped the post in half. I guess the dish was like a kite...

Present Day Backstory
Still being frugal, I didn't pay to have a technician re-align it. I did it myself by moving it around while my girlfriend watched the display on the television and called the numbers (13, 14, 13, 13, 13, 17!!!!, 12...)
As it's still blowing like crazy, and frigid, she was getting cold, so...

Blackberry saves the day
I put on the Bluetooth headset, she called it, and relayed the data over the phone.

sure, any bluetooth phone could have done the job, but it will be one of my favourite, "thank god for my Blackberry" moments!

Maybe RIM can use that in a Case Study

That's a very neat use -- using a Bluetooth headset as a makeshift walkie talkie!

jscully,

That's a good use of your bb!

When I saw the title of your post, and that you were from Toronto, I assumed you were going to say you were walking down Yonge St and you got hit by a stray bullet (not unkown in that area) and your BlackBerry stopped the lead.
