Default Too Loud (on 4.1.0.286)

Please Login to Remove!

I'd like a profile which just makes a very quiet noise to alert me to emails - something usable at home without annoying the wife - but with 4.1.0.286 even the "low" volume setting is quite loud.

Anyone know of a solution? The only thing I was considering was maybe trying to make a quiet mp3, and then using that as a notification. But surely there must be a better way....

And yes, I do appreciate the irony that everyone was asking for louder ring volumes, and that now RIM has done it I want them quieter. Actually, that's not true. The loud "High" is great. I just want a quiet "low".

Default 8700 to loud

I have the same issue.
What I did was to get the program MP3Gain,
This allows me to resample mp3's that I wanted to use as a tone to a lower volume level. I then use the GREAT app, MiniRingTone. this allows me to take that mp3 and cut out what I don't want and get it on my 8700c.

I really liked the sonar ringtone that is standard on the 8700.
I just recorded it as a wav and converted it to a mp3 to allow me to do the above process.
I now have a profile called couch.

Yeah - I like sonar but with the latest firmware it's WAY too loud in 'low' mode...

Default Upload sonar ringtone.

sure,
if someone will point me to a place to upload it,
or someone that is already providing ringtones,
I'll zip it up and email it or upload it to a site so everyone that wants it can get it.

Have you tried using a program such as GOLDWAVE,easy to use and you can reduce the output volume.

OK - Chuck's new quiet version of Sonar which works brilliantly with the new louder firmware can be downloaded from here.
