Interesting, it's a newer rev of 4.1 than the Telstra release I've got on my 7250 (4.1.0.268). Maybe I need to purposefully brick my 7250 to get a replacement sent out :D

You know that's funny you mention that bc when I installed the sprint 4.1 OS I had a choice of the default theme or the "bell" theme which looked like that of the 7130. Personally I like the old one bc I'm used to it but it was interesting to have the choice.

Data Support
Called Data Support and they are now saying 2 weeks before the release of the firmware upgrade. I would suspect they are inundated with calls thus are giving a two week release statement.

I'm surprised that they're sending 4.1 equipped replacements "out" without having the software available for download.
Back in the day, I had my 6750 for 3 hours, and fried it, and needed to re-install the software from the website.
I'm sure I would have done the same thing today with a 7250 if I was new to Blackberry...
I'm not sure what the first thing I'm going to do when I upgrade...design a better theme or start playing with Voyageur...decisions, decisions...

I think the logic there may be that any customer experiencing a catastrophic software failure should be able to have their unit replaced under warranty with little downtime.
On a side note: I've recently received word that my dealership will be one of those able to perform OS/PRL updates in-house; although, we've not yet been given the necessary instructions or software.

...it was a horrible experience. I called data support, and they walked me through everything that I'd already tried to rectify the problem, and then I went into the store and got an off-the-shelf replacement, which was cool.
Then I started to play with it again, and boom. gone. I realized the problem was with the laptop and the usb-serial converter that I needed to use. I had to power on and off the blackberry in the middle of the start-up, or something. It was a couple of years ago...but the software online was required.
Let me know know if your dealership is one of the OS/PRL headquaters, I might come out to see 'ya!

We should definitly get the upgrade software when it's released. Although, I imagine there will be a store within the GTA that will be able to hook you up as well.
I'll post when we get more details.

We received our first batch of 4.1/EvDO pre-loaded RIM 7250s today. Looks like for this first batch, existing 4.0 loaded handsets were opened at the factory, upgraded to OS 4.1, and resealed in the original boxes; a small sticker has been attached to the barcoded side of the box which reads "EvDO".
There is a note included with the software CD that advises users to visit the www.businessonthego.ca/7250 to download the latest Desktop Software (v4.1) and User Guide.
These units have also shipped without the Bell Theme installed.

Is there anyway to backup the firmware from a 7250 w/evdo? I got a new unit for a client and it has the upated firmware, would be nice if I could update my 7250!

The first batch of EvDO ready 7250s that we received did not have the Bell theme in place.
More recent arrivals, however, do have the Bell theme loaded as default.

1xEV-DO Upgrade for existing 7250 users
The businessonthego site now states:
"Already have a BlackBerry 7250 and want it to be even faster? Check in again after April 24th for instructions on how to upgrade your device to the 1xEV-DO mobile broadband network. At no cost to you!"
Cannot wait...

In the process of doing the same - hope it has the new Bell theme. So, all we are missing now is the PRL, right? Any more rumours or info on whether this will be OTA or in store?
thanks
