re: Vaja Screen stress

Stress on the screen 'protector', and after a weeks use, the screen protector is so scratched up that it's hard to use the BB... (It's only been in my pocket and I try to keep change/keys away from it).

Case
I use a Cabriolet with Multidapt Krusell case...honestly i am not quite comfortable...i mean the convenience keys, esc, roller are all pain to use if you put this case...also the same case to key the corner keys...
i know that case is for not a people who continously on BB, but you get demotivated to even grow to that level...
i feel the thickness of the leather can be trimmed to enable reach the buttons, roller on the side....
quite frankly i was cribbing myself of choosing this...and quite frankly i think that if we look for all sides protection cases we might land up with similar problems !!

Yep.
Both the Fortte Open Face case and the Vaja RI051 case have similar issues where as they track-wheel becomes slightly recessed making it harder to use.

Wow, I remember posting about Gizmoskins a few months back, giving my honest assessment (not pleased with the product, but customer service was great), and getting positively REAMED OUT on this board. Funny how the fanboys suddenly go quiet as the truth emerges over time. One person retorted to me: THEY ARE NOT GLUED, THEY ARE STITCHED. Right....

There were problems in the beginning. There have been quite a few posts about the improvements.
Please see these as an example

Now only if I could find an open-faced (playthrough) case with a magnet in the belt clip powerful enough to activate the sleeper function when connected to the clip, I'd be the happiest Blackberry owner in the world I know that's probably just a pipedream though.

I've been saying for weeks that that would be the perfect case bill.
Who can we get to try to make one?
I sleeper magnet in the belt clip. That's the ticket.

I was thinking the open faced, play through leather like the Vaja, or Forrte Open Faced... that fit in a holster much like the stock plastic one may work...put the device in with the back facing out and having a magnet in the holster... Of course this would have to have a clip on the top to make sure you don't bump it out of the holster like the stock plastic... This would also give you the option of keeping it in your pocket, or clip it to the holster when needed without having a silly knob on the back of the leather.
Now, if Forrte makes this case, I want a free one if you use my idea

What else would the magnet affect if it was that strong?

Unless you're robocop, I don't think you have much to worry about. I mean, heck, I work in IT. My office is adjecent to the server room which has a HUGE A/C unit and UPS in it, not to mention all of the servers. If magnetic fields are that bad for ya, I'm already cooked. ;)

Honestly, I'm not that concerned. I might be showing the geek in me, but I saw an episode of MythBusters where they addressed this same topic. They had an electromagnet cranked up to well over 1800 Gauss and it wasn't erasing magstrips. I don't think you'll need anything even remotely close to that powerful to activate the sleeper.

hmmm watch battery in the belt clip that would activate the battery??? I keep tellingmyself, if a case like this became available, I'd order 2! One as a backup! I want an open faced case. My problem is dropping the blackberry outside of a case. So i want the case to stay with the blackberry. I wish Vajas belt system (the metal one) would work with a fortte and then I would get the fortte case with the vaja system. I like the open face, but i'd really like to have the holster options without changing profiles..... I really want that Zen theme but am hesitant to upgrade my OS for some reason.

perfect. Question answered then. I thought magstrips were far more sensitive to magnetic forces. Thanks for clearing that up.
btw- i love mythbusters. haha

Mythbusters are awesome!
I think there is a lot of people worried about the mag strips because they are so used to their hotel keys getting wiped out. Well the difference between that and credit cards is that the mag strip on hotel keys are pretty much economy style since people take them, lose them, etc. But credit card companies have a much more durable magstrip that keeps it from getting erased easily.

I wonder if Fortte would look into a leather case like its open face with a belt clip similar to the Seiko one that fits around the entire case...

So is the one with or without the magnetic flap on top preferred? And how does it attach to your belt? I'm referring to the Fortte brand... It looks like they make two vertical cases.

Personal choice whether you like a flap on top or not.
Fortte offers six different belt clip options.
Add one of the vertical pouches to your cart and you'll see them all.
