Default Mailstreet: BES version 4.0 in 1-3 weeks (UPDATE: Now done!)

FYI:
BES version 4.0 will be implemented at Mailstreet in 1-3 weeks. At least that's what the rep told me anyways... I'm sure there will be a lot of pressure on them to get this ASAP since version 4.0 of the handheld software is publicly available and a bunch of new features in the handheld software (e.g. viewing image attachments in mail) aren't available until the BES is upgraded.

I'm on BES 4 now at Mailstreet. Wireless sync is working!

Really? If Mailstreet is using BES 4.0, shouldn't I be able to open jpeg attachments on my Blackberry that's using 4.0 RIM OS - but I can't.

Not all of their servers have been converted to 4.0... The one I'm on has not, so I cannot view the JPGs either... But at least we know the process has begun!

Jestre, thanks for the reply.

Let me get this straight - Mailstreet is operating a heterogenous collections of BES servers? Why is that? It's not like they're running 100 BES servers.

They started to upgrade their systems last week, and plan to have them all upgraded within the next couple weeks (or so it seems). I'm guessing they are upgrading one, waiting a bit for any side-effects to get resolved, and then move onto the next.

Mailstreet is running a significant number of separate servers. Probably at least 5 BES servers.

Mailstreet hosts Exchange accounts for 2000 companies (as of August 2004), and some companies have dozens of Mailstreet accounts. So that's probably about 10,000 Exchange email boxes. That'll require many servers -- you cannot do all of that on one server.

Now, not all of them are using BlackBerry, but there should be several hundred, and this ideally requires several BES servers for best performance.

I'd imagine they're up to at least 25,000 Exchange email boxes, and at least 3,000 BES accounts. (wild guess here.)
